The
Keys to Adventure
Deep-blue depths and turquoise shallows, just slightly cooler than the
85-degree air, teem with Disney-colored fish. Thirty feet down, slithering
skates and dark eels dart through crevices in a fantastic coral reef. And
there you are, breathing freely as you explore this tropical seascape
alongside your family – floating, twisting and cavorting like orbiting
astronauts.
Have an adventure, not a vacation, doing things you
will never forget – new and rare experiences that build family bonds and
memories. It’s as easy as tossing your fins into the family wagon and
heading south to the Florida Keys. The Keys (time has warped the Spanish
word “cayos,” meaning “little island,” into “key”) are a world
unto themselves. In places, the land is no wider then the road. there are
adult deer the size of collies and 1,000-pound manatees as graceful as water
ballerinas. It’s possible to get married underwater or swim with dolphins.
As if being accused, the keys lie at the tip of
Florida’s pointing finger. Probably with cause, the Keys have always had
more than their share of renegades, individualists, and the strange and
peculiar - all contributing to an aura of adventure and intrigue.
