Appropriate Design
While I have won many awards for design, my forte is appropriate design, which includes color, layout, look, and "feel". Good design alone is not enough, it must also be appropriate to your business.
Design has many applications; logos, illustrations, publications, signage, ads, posters, brochures, websites, and more.

Continuity throughout your advertising, including websites, is important for maintaining identity.

Importance of Good Design
Be sure your designer is qualified, ask for samples, inquire about awards and other evidence of successful design such as client testimonials.
Design should not be taken lightly. Usually free design, often offered as part of an ad purchase or brochure printing or website hosting is usually not free. It is typically poorly done as a necessary evil to get the sale.
Just as good design can help your business succeed, poor design can harm your business. The cost of poor design is loss of business.
Do your best to be honest with yourself, if you're not qualified to judge your designer's work limit those people you ask for help to those who clearly have design savvy.
I don't have a good ear for musical notes, I can give you my opinion about how your piano sounds but eventually you'll wish I hadn't.
I would be happy to discuss this very important area further with you as well as my qualifications.
